Requests authority for increase in establish- ment for criminal investigation and desires telegraphic reply.
In this despatch the Officer Administering the
Government refers to the great increase in crime in
the Northern district of the New Territories which
borders on Chinese territory. To meet this
situation he requests the Secretary of State's
authority for certain increases in the Police Force
stationed in the Northern District. Approval is
asked both for the increased provision which will be
required for the 1936 Estimates and for the immediate
recruitment of the additional personnel involving an
expenditure during the current year of $5,831, which
can be met out of savings. The Finance Committee
has agreed to the proposals.
